Reservists are men and women who give up their time to train and serve alongside the regular forces.
Reserve roles are diverse; as well as taking part in operational deployments, reservists are called out to help to deal with emergency situations in the UK, undertake military ceremonial duties and engage with schools, young people and cadets.
At every stage of a reservist’s career, there are obligations for both reservists and employers. It’s important to be aware of these as some are governed by law.
These rights and responsibilities are found on the links below:
4 MERCIAN fully understand that the Reserve is not your main employer and will work with you to ensure you have the options to balance your family, work and Reserve time.
All service is voluntary up to the point of mobilisation where you would become a Regular soldier.
Almost all mobilisation is carried out with the agreement of the soldier/officer, only it times of general war would this be compulsory.
A guide for employers can be found here.
