In the Army Reserve we pay you for your commitment, pay is based on rank and time served. All service is none contribution pensionable, and you earn 1 days paid holiday for every 10 days you are paid for.

Examples of pay rates per day are below as of 01 Jul 24:

• Private; £58.99
• Corporal: £89.68
• Sergeant: £100.68
• Lieutenant: £97.17
• Captain: £119.71
• Major: £150.14

If you attend the minimum amount of training days and complete the mandated training requirement then you will be eligible for a tax-free lump sum call bounty. This starts at £526 in year 1 raising to £ 2,084 by year 5.

We will cover the cost of travel from your home address to the Army Reserve Centre, up to 50 miles each way. You are eligible for a rail travel card that discounts travel costs, plus being in the military there are other discounts available to you. 

Recruit Training

As a recruit you will get paid: £46.91 per day, plus travel costs. All uniform and equipment you need is issued to you free of changed and is replaced free of charge for wear and tear. 

On enlisting you will also be eligible to:

• £500 on completing the Foundation course
• £1,200 on successful completion of Module 3 Reserve Soldier Basic Training
• £1,200 and £2,000 are for any eligible Reserve Officer who completes Reserve Officer Training
