4 MERCIAN marches on its stomach, and it is the Chef’s job to give soldiers a balanced and healthy diet, at home or overseas. You cook for everyone from new recruits to royalty, producing tasty meals in static kitchens or on the move in the field. Expert training teaches you how to cook nutritious meals, whatever the circumstances or location. Cook for everyone from hungry soldiers in the field, to VIPs at state ceremonies. Get skilled, qualified and enjoy an incredible Army life. Basic training teaches you vital soldiering skills such as how to survive outdoors and how to fire weapons. After mastering the basics, you learn to cook at the Defence Food Services School in Hampshire. As well as a thorough grounding in food preparation and presentation, you also learn how to construct field kitchens and produce tasty, nutritious meals on the move. Most of the training fits around your day job.
Even the best locations and adventures would be meaningless without outstanding food services supporting our soldiers. You could be a part of the team whose role is a lot more than just food. As Army chefs, our skills and motivation to deliver the necessary supplies, even in the most challenging environments, are what make us unique. 4 MERCIAN has places for chefs in all our locations.
